This Privacy Policy describes how The Loop ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

• Account information such as your name, email address, and profile photo
• Golf data including scores, handicap index, and round history
• Content you create, such as reactions, comments, and group memberships
• Communications you send us, such as support requests

We also collect information automatically when you use the Services:

• Device information including device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
• Location information when you search for golf courses (approximate location only)
• Usage data including features used, rounds started, and in-app actions
• Analytics data via Mixpanel to understand how users interact with the app

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Services
• Create and manage your account
• Calculate and track your handicap and scoring history
• Enable social features such as following other golfers and sharing rounds
• Send push notifications about your rounds and group activity (with your permission)
• Analyse usage patterns to improve the app experience
• Respond to your comments and questions
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing of information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With other users: Your profile, scores, and rounds are visible to users you follow and who follow you, and to members of groups you belong to, according to your privacy settings
• Service providers: We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the Services, including Supabase (database and authentication), Mixpanel (analytics), and Apple/Google (push notifications)
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process
• Business transfers: If The Loop is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction

4. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@jointheloop.app. Some information may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

• The right to access the personal information we hold about you
• The right to correct inaccurate information
• The right to request deletion of your information

8. Third-party services

The Services integrate with third-party services including Google Places (for course photos and location data) and the Golf Course API (for course information). These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them.

With your permission, we send push notifications to your device about round activity, group invitations, and social interactions. You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
